Redefining Process

Plan first. Build Better

How we work

We don’t rush into renovations. We plan your entire project before we swing a hammer—this intentional approach keeps projects on time and on budget. We collaborate with expert trades, analyze your home’s unique scope, and develop a clear, line-item estimate rooted in real-world pricing.
Our chief contractor walks the space with you to understand your goals, identify structural or historical considerations — and give you a free, ballpark estimate.
If you decide we’re a fit, we then enter a paid planning phase. This professional service includes up to 40 hours of research and a site visit with our trade partners to research what it takes to complete your project. The result is a detailed estimate that you can trust.

We work with you—and the right designer or architect—to develop essential plans your remodel will be built from. These are scaled drawings that define the scope, guide trade bids, and are required for permits.

Note: We can recommend trusted designers and architects if you don’t have one in place.

Our expert sub-contractors visit the site to inform real-time, scope-aligned estimates.

We then prepare an itemized estimate that breaks down every part of your project by trade and materials. It shows transparent pricing—and where you can adjust based on budget or design goals.

Once you’re under contract, we’ll finalize selections and materials and apply for permits. You’ll also receive access to a project management hub where you can track our progress, communicate with our team, and view daily updates.

Once a project plan is in place, you’ll have a project manager and lead carpenter assigned to your project. A member of our team will be on-site Monday through Friday, 8-5 to ensure a clean, respectful job site. We also warranty our work for two years after completion.

What’s a detailed estimate—and why would I pay for one?

Think of it like architectural plans with pricing: a 15–20 page document created after 40+ hours of planning and collaboration with expert trade partners. You’ll see every line item, every option, and every decision laid out for your project—so there are no surprises later.

Consultation

We intentionally start every project meeting with you in your space. We listen and study how you use it today, and how you imagine it in its ideal state.

Design & Inspiration

We capture what makes you come alive — then translate that into drawings and action steps that inform a construction plan.

Pricing Review

We create thorough project plans with clear pricing in order to ensure a smooth construction process. We also collaborate with a superior line-up of trade partners to conduct individual, on-site evaluations.

Design Development

We explore the colors and textures that give your home personality, and hone in on the finishes that will reflect your taste. Final selections are made, orders are placed, and the schedule is set.

Project Underway

Our job is to complete your remodel with precision and accuracy. Confidence in our process and clear communication ensures we meet your goals for a successful project.

Choosing the right contractor

Hiring the right contractor is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your home renovation. While some contractors may offer a lower price, it’s essential to understand the details behind their estimates and how they manage a project. Here’s what to ask—and why it matters.
Can they provide site visits or referrals for similar jobs?

Seeing a contractor’s past work and hearing from previous clients can provide assurance about their quality and professionalism.

Our approach: We encourage site visits and connect potential clients with past customers to share their experience.

How accurate are their estimates as compared to their final invoices?

Some contractors provide low initial estimates only to hit clients with unexpected costs later.

Our approach: Our estimates are painstakingly detailed and based on informed bids from our trade partners. This minimizes surprises and allows us to come in on budget, typically within single-digit percentage points from our estimates.

What is the contractor’s markup?

Every contractor marks up their work, but low bids with hidden markups can end up costing more than a straightforward, honest estimate.

Our approach: We have a 15% margin on trade partners and materials and charge projected, on-site management hours to run our projects, ensuring no hidden fees or surprise change orders.

Who are their subcontractors and how are they scheduled?

The quality of subcontractors directly impacts the project outcome. Unvetted, low-cost trades can lead to poor workmanship and lengthy delays.

Our approach: Through 20 years of responsible business, we have assembled a reliable roster of the best trade partners in the region—small business owners who meet our standards for craftsmanship and reliability.

Do they have the support to manage your project?

It’s common for contractors to book multiple projects at once without the support or manpower to efficiently reach an agreed-upon finish date. Homeowners often experience days or weeks of no progress as the result of poor planning and mismatched schedules.

Our approach: We assign a project manager and a lead carpenter to every project, which means every day of your project, someone will be on-site. Apprentices, a master carpenter, and trade partners will also rotate in according to schedule.

Can they share a full build plan with timeline, choices, and pricing for each step?

A clear timeline and consistent communication keep your project on track. Delays due to poor scheduling can add stress and cost.

Our approach: Our estimates provide the framework for a detailed build plan and realistic schedule—we don’t swing a hammer until we have a finish date we can commit to. Every last detail of our progress is communicated to you through CoConstruct, a project management software that ensures your project is done on time, on budget—and right.
