Room to grow: creating space for the twins.

Has anyone ever been completely ready for twins? Expanding their family by two at the same time, our clients jumped into parenthood with both feet. In doing so, they recognized that their home needed to be able to support their family for many years to come.

This home needed a lot of love when it was purchased, and they had big dreams: the attic space, previously unused, was to become a space for the girls to grow up, proving to be a challenge because the ceilings were low, and the home’s framing was not suitable to build out a third level. Furthermore, Mom and Dad had dreams as well: a true primary suite, a show stopping kitchen, and modernized living room features – all while maintaining the home’s historic charm.

So we got to work, creating two new bedrooms out of the attic space, as well as a new bathroom for the sisters to share. Each bedroom has a built-in window bench with incredible natural light, offering plenty of storage, and features a reused mirrored door. The home owner searched long and hard for two vintage sconces that were installed outside of each room. The bathroom was built with these girls in mind, with a double vanity that ties in with the beautiful white tile used in the shower.

Mom and Dad weren’t forgotten either – the primary bedroom layout was shifted to become a full primary suite, complete with a stunning primary bath attached. Even the living room was redone with the needs of a modern family in mind, all while painstakingly crafting every detail to tie in with the home’s historic roots.  The kitchen layout, once a mess, is now open, airy, and top of the line – all while maintaining the historic look that we love.

We love watching our clients’ families grow, and to help create spaces for them to live out their dreams.
