Summit Kitchen & Patio

A dream kitchen, powder bath, and outdoor kitchen.

Our clients purchased this amazing home built in the 1920’s. Like with many historic homes, it had oodles of character – but that charm can sometimes get in the way of a home’s dream functionality.

They wanted an open and modernized kitchen: a large island with seating for four, custom cabinets, and a larger footprint. Additionally, they wanted a new powder room adjacent to the kitchen. Plus, because of their love of hosting guests, they needed easier access to the yard, complete with an outdoor kitchen.

But they didn’t just want modern updates: our clients purchased a historic home with a purpose, and they wanted to make sure that historic character was preserved.

An old chimney running from the basement through the roof went right through the kitchen, creating some space and design challenges we had to overcome. It wasn’t the easiest path forward, but we relished the challenge! For the powder room, we reused a beautiful original archway, tying the old home into the new. And finally, we added a new set of French doors that open onto the patio where their outdoor kitchen is waiting to host guests.

Bridging the gap between the original home and bringing it into the future is a passion of ours. We absolutely love how this turned out.
