Golden Hour Revival

Background

Built in 1928, this historic colonial needed a sunny first floor layout that preserved its charm while improving flow and efficiency for a modern family.

Challenge

An inefficient kitchen layout and centrally located powder bath disrupted the flow pattern throughout the first floor. We needed to reconfigure the rooms to enhance functionality in the kitchen, elevate the dining room and maximize natural light — on a tight timeline to finish before a special family event for our clients.

Solutions

We knocked out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room to invite a sense of openness to the layout. — photo 1
Six additional windows lightened up both rooms, while a buttery yellow cabinetry in the kitchen fit the clients’ request to avoid painting everything white. — photo 2
We installed a hand-sculpted fireclay sink, paired it with brass finishings and set it in quartzite countertops.— photo 3

A suspended stove hood kept sight lines clear and allowed for the window behind it to do its thing. Nearby, pockets of open shelving added visual interest to tidy corners of the kitchen. — photo 4

We also moved an exterior door to define our new mudroom space and relocated the powder bath to the hallway. — photo 5
On the other side of the mudroom, we added a wall of cabinetry to store the homeowners’ small appliances, essential for their allergy-friendly cooking. — photo 6

Reviews We Love

From the Homeowners

We did a full kitchen remodel in our Brookside home which included moving/building a half bath in a different location on our first floor. Remodel Moore was great - we cannot imagine a better choice. They were detailed, they found ways to fulfill our designers' designs, sometimes saving us money along the way, always advocating for us with every contractor they brought in. We always felt they had our best interests at heart, and they were also a joy to be around - especially Tim who had to pull this whole thing off while we worked from home. They did a great job - delivered on time, all the things you want and hope for. Stop searching and choose them now!
